  • About LASC

Los Angeles Southwest College, Department of the Arts in collaboration with Phillips Graduate Institute hosted “What is Art Therapy; an exhibit of Children’s Art, October 18, 2006 through December 1, 2006 in the college Art Gallery housed within the Founders Library at LASC. The photo gallery presented at this web site displays the significant works of graduate students of art therapy and the children’s art. There was an overwhelming positive response from students, faculty, administration and the community, at the opening reception, Wednesday, October 18, 2006, hosted by the Associated Student Organization.

The opening included introductions and remarks from LASC Art faculty, Professor Robert Vance and Department Chairperson of the Arts, Pat Lewis, along with Dr. Jack E. Daniels III, President of LASC. Particular recognition is afforded to Noah Hass-Cohen of PGI for her comprehensive presentation about child development visual stages. A special thank you must be acknowledged to Sanie Andres, Admissions counselor from PGI who answered student questions and Robin Vance and other staff from PGI who developed the exhibit. The exhibit showcased child art work from ages two to sixteen and emphasized art therapy perspectives on child developmental stages. Phillips Graduate Institute provided art therapy brochures developed by their students.
