About the Associated Students Organization
The Associated Students Organization (ASO) at Southwest is the governing body representing students. ASO also sponsors social activities and events, and supports its members throughout the year.
Membership in the ASO is not mandatory. However, student activities are financed by money received from student membership in ASO. Activities are in accordance with policies, rules, and regulations defined by the Board of Trustees of the Los Angeles Community College District.

ASO 2013-14 Election Results
The ASO elections were held on April 29 and 30 and the ballots were counted on May 1. The newly elected officers will assume their post on July 1, 2013. LASC collected 126 ballots for the Student Trustee Election. These ballots will be counted at the District Office on May 19.

IMPORTANT ELECTION DATES
- ASO Applications are DUE on April 18 by 4:00 p.m.
- ASO/Trustee Candidates Forum: Wednesday, April 24, 12:00-1:00 p.m. in the Student Services Building (SSB)
- Voting Dates:
- Monday, April 29
- Tuesday, April 30
9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
All completed applications must be submitted to SSB, Room 209, before the required deadline.

Student Representation Fee
In the 2011-12 semester, LASC students voted to pay one dollar ($1.00) per semester (Education Code section 76060.5) to raise funds towards operations. These funds are used to sponsor events and support campus activities geared toward students.
ASO membership cards are $7.00 per semester, and $3.00 for summer session students. In case of withdrawal from the college, students will receive a refund.
