Denise Woods

Coach Woods began her coaching career at CSU Northridge as an assistant. From there, she took an assistant coaching position at West LA College. During her third season with WLAC, she was offered a head coaching position at View Park Prep High School in Los Angeles. While at View Park, she also inherited the position of Athletic Director. During her 7 year tenure, she led the girls basketball team to 3 consecutive City Championships, as well as 4 straight undefeated league championships, and once made it to the C.I.F. Southern California Division V Regionals, where they were the runner-ups.

Coach Woods was born and raised in the Bay Area (Richmond, Ca), and began her college career at the University of San Francisco before transferring to the University of Southern California. As a senior, she was a starter and led the Pac-10 in block shots. She was also a member of the All PAC-10 Academic team both her junior and senior seasons. Coach Woods eventually went overseas and played professionally in Austria, before playing domestically in Houston.Coach Woods earned her Bachelors and Masters degree from USC in Communications while competing as a scholarship athlete for the Women of Troy.

She received her Doctorate degree from UCLA in Public Health. In her spare time, she enjoys watching sports, competing on recreation basketball teams, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends.

Goal(s) for the season: “Compete every game, get better everyday, and create responsible student-athletes who are ready to move to the next level athletically and academically.”
