Mission

The Marketing and Public Relations Advisory Committee exists to support the institution’s comprehensive external communications efforts and to ensure continued alignment with the mission and goals of Los Angeles Southwest College.

 

Structure

Members of the LASC Marketing and Public Relations Committee were identified per expertise in their respective, professional areas.  As a result, the Committee is comprised of individuals representing the faculty, staff, administration, Los Angeles Community College District, marketing industry and local community.

 

Members of the LASC Marketing and Public Relations Committee are:

  • Ramon Miramontes, Dean of Academic Affairs, Los Angeles Southwest College
  • Felipe Payan, Instructor, Computer Applications/Office Technology
  • Johnel Barron, Outreach and Recruitment Coordinator, Los Angeles Southwest College
  • Blanca Barajas, Program Specialist, Los Angeles Southwest College
  • J. Eldridge Taylor Jr., The J. Eldridge Taylor Company, Inc. and The Jet Foundation
  • Brian Canning, NextWave Productions
  • Stu Silverstein, Public Affairs/Build LACCD, Los Angeles Community College District

The chair, who reports to the President of Los Angeles Southwest College, acts as principal advisor on all matters related to marketing and public relations efforts.

 

Responsibilites

  • To attend quarterly meetings at Los Angeles Southwest College
  • To propose innovative ideas that can enhance marketing and public relations efforts
  • To advise on messaging to targeted community groups
  • To help monitor relevance, consistency and appropriateness of messages to the community
  • To enlist support of the institution by influential community leaders (e.g., educational, community, civic organizations)
  • To participate in special projects, as requested
  • To participate in ad-hoc committees, as needed
