ESL Program

Los Angeles Southwest College offers two programs of English as a Second Language, credit and non-credit, to meet your needs.

The Credit Program offers six (6) levels of ESL instruction: beginning, intermediate and advanced. This program teaches basic English language skills with an emphasis on reading and writing for various educational, professional and personal objectives:

• The classes are $20 per unit or FREE if you qualify for a fee waiver
• You must register by the beginning of the semester
• Credit classes are availbale day and evening

The Non-credit Program offers three (3) levels of non-credit ESL instruction: beginning and intermediate. This program integrates life skills and job preparation for vocational programs:

• Non-credit classes are FREE and the only requirement is to be 18 years of age or older
• You can register for non-credit classes at any time during the semester
• Non-credit classes are availbale day and evening
