This class is offered most semesters and is recommended for students who are unfamiliar with online classes.
How to Succeed in a Online Class
LASC offers an online orientation that students can take as a 1-unit 5-weekl Credit/No-Credit course.
The course is called CAOT-133 How to Succeed in an Online Class
Objectives:
- Learn how to navigate the class web site
- Learn tips and tricks to make your online education easy
- Get prepared to succeed on upcoming online classes
Requirements:
- Be computer literate (able to email; use a browser, save, cut, paste, and copy files; and set up folders)
- Have a PC or MAC available to you with internet connection
- Have an e-mail account
The first part is a face-to-face orientation
We will spend the fist session together in a computer lab and will help you though the process of establishing your online account, and learning to navigate through the web site.
The second pare is online is Online
We will then spend the rest of the time in a simple online class that both teaches you about how online classes work and how to use the course web site. You will have weekly assignments, post to discussion boards, do a group assignment.
When you complete the class you will have all these tools mastered and you will have the confidence and skills to take your next online class with the ability to focus on the course material and not worry about the online technology issues.
