Policies on Transfer of Credit from Other Institutions:
In the cases of the CALIFORNIA PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS and OUT-OF-STATE or PRIVATE INSTITUTIONS, credits earned may be transferred to this college if:
- the other institution is accredited
- the coursework taken at the other institution is Associate degree applicable (at college level)
- an official transcript from the other institution is on file in the Office of Admissions
In addition, credit earned at another CALIFORNIA PUBLIC INSTITUTION in an area of General Education will be accepted in the same General Education area at this college. A minimum grade of "C" must have been earned at the other institution in the areas of English and Mathematics to fulfill the competency requirements at this college.
Credits earned at another CALIFORNIA PUBLIC INSTITUTION in areas of General Education on the CSU-GE or IGETC transfer patterns will also be accepted in the same General Education areas at this college.
Credits earned at another CALIFORNIA PUBLIC INSTITUTION in majors will be looked at on a course-to-course basis for equivalent credit to be granted. In all cases, the course description will be the basis for granting equivalent credit and, in some cases, the Department Chair will make the final determination.
Credits earned at OUT-OF-STATE or PRIVATE institutions will be evaluated on the basis of course description. In some cases, the Department Chair will make the final determination of course and credit equivalency.
Credits earned at a FOREIGN INSTITUTION may be granted after the student has earned 12 units at this college, with a grade point average of "C" (2.0) or higher. Students may receive a maximum of 30 units, granted either for Course or Elective credit. Only transcripts evaluated by an approved agency will be considered. See the petition above to view the complete policy and procedures on transfering credit from a Foreign Institution to this college .
Credits earned at a NON-ACCREDITED INSTITUTION may be granted after the student has earned 30 units at this college, with a grade point average of "C" (2.0) or higher. Students may receive a maximum of 15 credits.
