EOP&S
Extended Opportunity Program and Services (EOP&S)
The Extended Opportunity Program provides services and activities that are “over and above” what is traditionally provided to community college students. EOP&S is designed to help low-income and educationally disadvantaged students have a successful college experience and complete their career goals.
The following services are provided by the program at Los Angeles Southwest College: Priority registration, academic and personal counseling, peer advisement, developmental courses, individual tutoring, and partial book vouchers.
EOP&S Eligibility: Students must be enrolled full time, be eligible for the California Board of Governors’ Grant (BOGG) and meet educationally disadvantaged criteria.
Qualifications
- Be a California Resident
- Enroll in at least 12 units
- Enroll in or have completed a personal development class
- Qualify for Board of Governors Grant (BOGG)
- Have NOT completed English 28 & Math 115
- Maintain 12 units and have a GPA of at least 2.0
- Have NOT completed 50 units or have an AA/S Degree
Forms Due
- Progress Report 7th week (Due March 25, 2011)
- Student Record Sheet (Due May 20, 2011)

CARE
Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education (CARE):
Cooperative Agencies Resource for Education (CARE) is an Educational Support Program for Single Parents designed to assist single parents receiving Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC)/Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF). The CARE program provides over and above support services to assist students in EOPS who are single parents with children under the age of fourteen and recipients of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), formerly Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC). The objective of the program is to help eligible students with additional services including stipends and book vouchers.

Qualifications
- Be an EOPS student
- Single head of household
- Have a child under 14 years old
- Be a TANF/AFDC (cash aid) recipient
