Seville, Spain

Music Appreciation: Music 111

July 15 to July 30, 2012

 Participate in this two week exploration of the world of music through this special program and earn college credit (3 credits) towards your degree.  This Music Appreciation course is an introduction to American, World, and Western Classical music that will be conducted this 2012 summer session in Seville, Spain.  This course will visit cultural sites in and around the ancient city of Seville, Cordoba, & Granada.  You will experience vibrant nightlife, music, African and Roman castles, mosques, churches, and much more.

Jordan

Anthropology 121: Religion

July 1 to July 16, 2012

This 3-unit course is an introduction to the anthropological study of religion and examines the way religion is lived and practiced in diverse cultures.  Topics covered include mythology, symbolism, ritual, magic, and witchcraft; the course examines the role of religion in human experiences of sickness and death and explores contemporary issues of religious change, conflict, and violence.

 

This course will visit cultural sites throughout the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.  While exploring Jordan you will experience a vibrant culture, impeccable hospitality, desert life, the ancient city of Petra, Roman sites, mosques, churches, and much more.
