We want to help you follow your dreams of having a college education. And, we don’t want paying for college to keep you from succeeding! We can help you take advantage of all the financial aid opportunities available to you through federal, state, and local grants, fee waivers, federal work-study, and loans. Most of these are funds you don’t have to pay back!
Your first step to finding out if you qualify is by submitting a financial aid application. Here’s how:
Complete one of these two applications:

It is your responsibility to make sure you read and understand the information in these financial aid webpages before accepting any funds. Everything you need to know and do to stay in good academic status to get funding is here.

Federal & State Dates and Deadlines
- The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is the most important application to complete for students who are a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or eligible non-citizen to know if they qualify for all types of federal aid and most state aid. Go to the FAFSA webpage for more information.
- The CADAA (California Dream Act Application) is the most important application to complete for students who are DREAMERs or eligible for AB540 to know if they qualify for certain types of state aid, including a tuition fee waiver. Go to the CADAA webpage for more information.
September 2 – Deadline: Complete your FAFSA or CADAA by this date so you can determine if you qualify for the Competitive Cal Grant award that is only offered to students enrolled in California community colleges.
**Fill out FAFSA beginning October 1 of the current year to receive aid for next years’ Fall term.
(FAFSA application that becomes available October 1, 2021, is to disburse aid for Fall 2022)
November 11 – Deadline: For students who are only attending the Fall term, submit your final Direct Loan packet.
November 18 – Deadline: Submit your Fall Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Appeals. Comprehensive Student Education Plan (CSEP) adjustment forms for the current Fall term.

You must attend an SAP Workshop in order to have your SAP petition reviewed
Step 1: After you submit your FAFSA or CADAA, check the status of your application anytime through the Student Information System (SIS) using your Student ID and password.
Step 2: It usually takes between 3 days to 3 weeks before LASC’s Financial Aid Office receives your results from the federal or state government.
Once LASC has your results, you may be asked to have your income tax information verified before an award may be given.
Unless otherwise directed, you can upload your documents and any needed Financial Aid Forms by logging into lasc.verifymyfafsa.com with your cell phone, tablet, or computer. You and your parents or spouse can also e-sign documents here if needed.
Continue to check your Student Portal email account to determine if you need to submit additional information or if an Award Package letter has been sent.
Step 3: If you are eligible for a financial aid award (congratulations!), you will be sent an Award Package letter that shows you the awards you are eligible to receive, such as the Pell Grant, Cal Grant, Fee Waivers, Loans, and more.
Before accepting any funds, we recommend you review how much aid you will need, as you are only allowed to receive a Pell Grant for 12 semesters (about six years). If your goal is to get a bachelor’s degree while attending school part-time, you will want to make sure you have enough to reach your educational goals within that time. If your Pell Grant and other federal and state financial aid don’t cover your needs, consider researching scholarship opportunities and loans.
Step 4: Once you accept your award, your financial aid funds will be sent to a BankMobile account. Go to your Student Portal email account for an email with instructions on how to access your BankMobile account.
Step 5: To continue getting financial aid award money, you will need to stay in good academic status, called Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP). Make sure you understand how this works! If you have any questions, attend a SAP Workshop to be sure you know what you need to do.
Step 6: If you plan to go to college next year, make sure to complete your FAFSA or CADAA starting October 1st of the year before you plan to attend so you can get the most funds you are eligible to have.
When You Apply for Financial Aid, You Have These Responsibilities:
- Reviewing and being familiar with all information on the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) academic program(s) you choose to study before enrolling.
- Completing all the application forms ACCURATELY and COMPLETELY, and submitting them
to the right place on time. Failure to do so will result in the delay of processing
your financial aid file:
- Errors must be corrected before any financial aid can be received. Intentional misreporting of information on application forms for federal financial aid is a violation of the law and is considered a criminal offense subject to penalties under the U.S. Criminal Code, and it will reject your application. Additionally, regulations require that all cases of suspected fraud that originated from misrepresentation be reported to the Office of the Inspector General.
- Quickly providing all additional documentation, verification, corrections, and/or new information requested by either LASC’s Financial Aid Office or the agency or agencies to which an application was submitted.
- Reading and understanding all forms you are asked to sign.
- Understanding what you need to do to maintain your Student Academic Progress.
- If you have a loan, you must notify the lender of any changes to your name, address, or school status.
- Performing the work that is agreed upon in accepting a college work-study award.
- Knowing and complying with the deadlines for application or reapplication for aid.
- Knowing and complying with the LACCD’s Refund/Repayment Policy.
- Repaying financial aid funds if it is determined that you were ineligible to receive the funds.
You’ve found out via email or mail that you are eligible for a financial aid award (congratulations!). Your award funds are first sent to a BankMobile account. To access your BankMobile account, go to your student portal email accountfor an email with instructions. If you can’t find this email, contact BankMobile any day of the week between 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m. EST at 1-877-327-9515.
Once you have your BankMobile Personal Code from your email, go to your BankMobile Account to set it up.
myLACCDcard by BankMobile
Getting your financial aid payments, called disbursements, is easy through the myLACCDcard by BankMobile! After you set up your BankMobile Account, a Refund Selection Kit will be emailed to your Student Portal email account. If you already have a myLACCDcard, you can use that to access future financial aid disbursements.
With your myLACCDcard, there are two ways you can choose one to receive your financial aid money:
- Electronic Deposit to a BankMobile Vibe Account – If you open a BankMobile Vibe account (upon identity verification), money is deposited the same day BankMobile receives the funds from LASC.
Note: Review the Disbursement dates listed in your SIS account. If you choose this method, it will take approximately two (2) days for your money to be deposited to your BankMobile Vibe account from the Disbursement date listed.
- Electronic Deposit to Another Bank Account – With this option, you choose the bank you want your money to be transferred to. The money is transferred to your chosen bank account on the same business day BankMobile receives the funds from LASC. It then typically takes 1-2 business days for your bank to put the money into your account.
Note: Review the Disbursement dates listed in your SIS account. If you choose this method, it will take approximately three to five (3-5) days for
the money to be deposited into your personal bank account from the Disbursement date

As noted above:
- If you have a BankMobile Vibe account, it will take approximately two (2) days for your money to be deposited to your BankMobile Vibe account from the Disbursement date listed in your SIS account.
If you opt to have the funds transferred to your chosen bank account, it will take approximately three to five (3-5) days for the money to be deposited into your personal bank account from the Disbursement date listed in your SIS account.
- FAFSA / FSA ID Workshops

There are four (4) ways to get answers to your financial aid questions:
- Check your Student Information System Portal often for updated information.
- Attend one of our Workshops on FAFSA, Loans, and Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).
- Make a Financial Aid Appointment through our Live Chat.
- Send us an email to: email@example.com with any general questions. We’ll respond to your email within 48 hours. Note: we cannot give any information that is considered confidential or personal via email.
- You must make an appointment to visit the Financial Aid Office.
We do not offer walk-in appointments.
- You must make an appointment to visit the Financial Aid Office.
- If you visit us, make sure to bring either your government-issued I.D. or your LASC Student I.D. that includes a photo of you. We will need this identification in order to help you.

Dropping off documents?
Documents must be upload online by logging into lasc.verifymyfafsa.com with your cell phone, tablet, or computer, unless otherwise directed. Documents can be e-signed online by you and your parent or spouse.
