Which Pathway Is For You?

Explore the Program Pathways Mapper today to learn all that LASC has to offer!

The Program Pathways Mapper is a customized visual representation of LASC's catalog. You will find it organized by Career and Academic Pathways, groups of similar programs that are designed to help you select a program of study and speed your progress towards completion. You will also find information on occupations and careers commonly associated with each program, including typical wages and the labor market demand for California.

Each Pathway allows you to explore a set of program maps that show a semester-by-semester path from program entry to completion. You will also find videos and program learning outcomes that will deepen your understanding of each program and Pathway, helping you build confidence in your program choice.

As part of Guided Pathways at LASC, we are committed to clarifying the path for our students.

How to Use the Program Mapper

Go To Program Pathways Mapper

NOTE: This program map represents one possible pathway through the program. Please see a counselor to create an educational plan that is customized to meet your needs.

  1. Upon visiting LASC's Program Pathways Mapper, select a Career and Academic Pathway.
  2. Once you've selected the pathway of choice, you'll see the Certificates and Degrees Map which lists the various degrees, certificates, and awards available to explore at Los Angeles Southwest College.
  3. Below that is the Career Explorer which presents potential careers and occupations with descriptions, job growth predictions, and average expected salary range.
  4. On the next page, you will find a brief description of the degree, an engaging video, and a term-by-term map to effectively and efficiently choose the correct courses towards completion.

Does the Program Mapper replace the need to meet with a counselor?

No, students should still meet with a counselor at least once each semester to discuss educational goals, planning, and progress.

Is a Program Map the same as an Educational Plan?

No, a program map simply highlights the Degree or Certificate requirements for a program semester-by-semester.

Can I begin in the Spring semester and follow the map?

Yes, the map can still be accurate despite a student beginning in the Fall or Spring semester.

Can I be a part-time student and still follow the program map?

Yes, courses may be taken at the discretion of the student and based on the student’s schedule and desired course load.

Can LASC be my home school, but I still take classes at another LACCD school to complete the program?

Yes, when selecting a course at any LACCD campus, meet with a counselor to verify course equivalency across the LACCD district.
