You can get a Skill Certificate (SC) in Website Design at LASC where you will strengthen your skills, get to know the basics of graphics design, and learn the fundamentals of how to design and create basic web page using HTML:

  • Learn the basics of graphic design using Adobe Photoshop. You’ll focus on the core elements of computer graphic arts software for business, digital layout, rendering, and manipulation of computer-created and still imagery to help you to design web pages and build your portfolio.  
  • Gain experience with advanced web design tools to design, build, and publish web sites using Adobe Dreamweaver, advanced HTML, and the main concepts of Java script and Java applets. You’ll use graphics, style sheets, hyperlinks, tables, forms, and multimedia capabilities to create advanced websites to get you ready for work in a high-tech office environment.
  • Get hands-on design and implementation experience using multimedia Web design tools that incorporate video, sound, graphics, animation, and other multimedia capabilities related to website production.
  • Check for upcoming events, business and job fairs hosted by LASC’s School of Career and Technical Education to network with local business owners to find potential employers or personal clients who need a web designer.

Get Ready Before You Start 

Interested in a career in website design? You can start preparing for your career before your first class at LASC!

  • Make an appointment with your LASC academic counselor to review LASC’s program, develop a Student Education Plan (SEP), and discuss what additional support services, opportunities you can be a part of to meet your educational and career goals. 
  • Still in high school? Takea basic computer course to get a solid understanding in Microsoft Office Suite software. Enroll in yearbook to learn the basics of Adobe Photoshop. Check with local advertising firms to see if they have a summer internship to hone your design skills and get valuable experience to build your portfolio for future employers or clients.
  • Once you’re at LASC, make sure to get involved with on-campus clubs and organizations, such as the LASC Computer Club and Toastmasters, and find out what other opportunities LASC has through the Career Transfer/Pathways & Jobs Center, like on campus career fairs, networking events, and how-to workshops. These create new relationships with potential employers and help you build your resume.
