Career Pathways and Job Center

Smiling students at Graduation

Welcome To The Career Pathways and Job Center!

The core purpose of Los Angeles Southwest College's Career Pathways & Jobs Center (Career Center) is to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and insight in career development, professional development, and employment processes. Our mission is to assist students with positive career exploration, whether their chosen career path includes the pursuit of experiential educational experiences or the pursuit of an AA degree, certification or the quest for post-graduation employment.

The target market for our services includes the undergraduate student population and employers and educational institutions interested in recruiting. No matter what brings you here, our first-class staff, programs, and resources are ready to support you at every step along your way.

Please note: Due to the coronavirus outbreak, all academic counseling at LASC will use Cranium Cafe, a meeting and collaboration platform designed specifically for student support. Once on the ConexED page, students and faculty should use the "Login with Canvas" button.

What are Pathways?

A career pathway is an educational road map outlining an aligned sequence of courses that prepares students for college and career transition in a specific industry or sector. A career pathway leads to multiple options for students such as concurrent enrollment college credit beginning in high school, industry certifications, certificate or associate degrees, employment, and in some cases preparation for transfer to a university.

Pathway Standards

Pathways generally meet the following criteria:

  • Unique to an industry sector
  • Includes at least 2 courses
  • Has an occupational focus
  • Demonstrates sequence potential
  • Reasonable and appropriate for high school to college
  • Lead to high-skill, high-wage, or high-demand jobs
  • Inclusive of all aspects of the industry
  • Sustainable and viable over the next 10 years
