The mission of the English Writing Center (EWC) is to help LASC students become effective and confident writers.

We want you to love writing as much as we do!

English 21, 28 and 145 Lab Requirements

The EWC is where English 21, 28 and 145 students complete the required lab component of these classes.  We have tutors on site to help you complete the online lab assignments to the best of your ability.  The lab assignments are designed to follow what you are learning in class and allow you to get extra practice, information, and assistance.  Make sure you attend the lab every week to receive full credit.

Tutoring Services
The Center now offers other support services to help all Southwest students succeed in writing.

We offer:
  • One-on-one and group tutoring
  • Weekly workshops on topics English students tend to ask for help with

Here's what our students said about us!
“My experience has been remarkable. As I completed my assignments each week, I have surprised myself more and more… I feel more confident when I make my statements and share my opinions.”
“My experience in the lab has been great! I have had opportunities to look at videos and presentations that make the material from the class easier to understand.”
“When I needed help I had the confidence to ask for it. The staff was friendly. I would always have feedback on my assignments that I turned in.”
“The lab has helped me tremendously to becoming a better writer.”
“It was a very nice environment. It felt like home.”
