Securing of LASC Campus in response to county State of Emergency

California Governor Newsom, the County of Los Angeles Board of Supervisors, and Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti have all declared new states of emergency for the region, and, in response, LASC is being further secured. All staff will be asked to telecommute Monday through Wednesday, June 1-3, 2020, which includes the Build LACCD Team. All gates to the campus will be closed and locked until further notice. During this time, the security of our college facilities will be assessed daily.

Kabwe Chanda
L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti celebrates life of LASC employee Kabwe Chanda

In a May 29 COVID-19 response to the Los Angeles community, Mayor Eric Garcetti recognized the recent passing of Kabwe Chanda, who was a Regional Manager for our district's Information Technology Department, which included overseeing the IT operations at Los Angeles Southwest College (LASC). Chanda passed away on April 8 as a result of complications from COVID-19.
