Electronics Technology (AS)

Students at their Graduation Event

Program Overview:

Be the Technology Hub and Keep Things Running for Your Company

Circuits, electrons, operating systems, and lab testing are all components of electronics technology. A career in this industry will keep you busy, challenged, and fulfilled as you work individually or with teams to create computer operating systems, integrate them with the circuit system necessary for operations, then test and confirm that all circuits are working properly.

You will be the hub of the company and keep the energy flowing as you help your colleagues solve problems that are impacting operations. Your desire to understand how things work combined with electronics will serve you well in this dynamic business sector. Jobs and services are also in demand in commercial and residential careers in this industry.

You will be on the cutting-edge of new electronic equipment that drives modern life as you adapt it to your company to increase business operations and efficiencies.

Get Ready Before You Start

Want to go into electronics technology? You can start preparing for your career before your first class begins:

  • Make an appointment with your LASC academic counselor to review LASC’s program, develop your Student Education Plan (SEP), and discuss which support services and opportunities, such as Math Lab and peer tutoring, that will help you succeed. Ask if transferring to a four-year college or university would be a good match for your future plans.
  • Still in high school? Find out if your school has an electronics or computer club to join. You’ll gain enormous experience and get to know your teachers and classmates. Research blogs and follow influencers to learn about business, electronics technology, and the latest trends and news in the industry.
  • Once you’re at LASC, make sure to get involved with on-campus clubs and organizations. You can become a student ambassador or run for student body government. These create new relationships and show potential employers your commitment to building writing, communication, and leadership skills.
