COVID-19 Testing Schedule Information Announced

The COVID-19 protocol for Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) and Los Angeles Southwest College (LASC) has undergone a significant change that all students and employees need to take action on to be in compliance.

LACCD's District Office has shared emails with all students and employees that describe these procedures in detail, including the revised policy, Board Policy 2900, that LACCD's Board of Trustees put in place on September 1. The revised policy reads:

Vaccination and Testing Requirements

As a condition to physically accessing any District building, classroom, library, gymnasium, facility, or other indoor setting, all District students shall present proof that they have been fully vaccinated against the SARS-CoV-2 virus (COVID-19) unless exempt for medical or religious reasons.

Employees and students who are granted a medical or religious exemption shall undergo regular testing for COVID-19 infection and shall produce proof of negative COVID-19 test results.

Beginning September 13, LACCD vendor Biocept will take over COVID-19 testing and screening operations at LASC as well as the district's other colleges and district office in downtown Los Angeles. Students and employees no longer need to use the LASCSafeApp as they did this past summer. Campus visitors will need to use this check-in process.

No later than October 8, all students and employees who plan to be onsite at any LASC or LACCD facility must:

  • Create a profile account with Biocept
  • Get a free COVID-19 test with Biocept

Biocept, under the name Cleared4, has sent a text and/or email to each LASC student and employee with a unique link instructing the recipient to create a new profile in their database. After completing the profile, click on “Book On-site Covid Test,” select LASC, and schedule a time to set up an initial test for COVID-19. Every student and employee will need to be tested once to create a baseline. The baseline tests can be completed in LASC's Lakin Center, Room 120, on the following times and days:

  • From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, September 14.
  • Beginning September 20, testing will be available twice a week from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays.
  • Please allow 30 minutes to get your baseline test done.
  • Biocept will not accept walk-ins. Students and employees must book an appointment in advance through their Cleared4 account

Prior to October 18, all students and employees who plan to be onsite at any college or District facility must:

  • Upload their vaccination information to their Biocept account (if vaccinated)
  • Or submit a medical or religious exemption request approved by the District (allow at least two days for processing). All persons granted an exemption must be tested weekly by the District’s official testing vendor as a condition of employment

Students who cannot meet the October 8 or October 18 deadlines must contact the Office of Student Services at LASC as soon as possible.

All students and employees will receive a daily email reminder from Cleared4 with a link to their self-health check, which is required to be completed before arriving on campus. Once cleared, a digital "green pass" will be issued. Students and employees will be able to show it to gain entry to any indoor campus building or facility at all nine LACCD campuses and the district office.

Students who are attending classes on an LACCD campus need to follow these protocols. Students taking online-only classes do not. All employees, including faculty teaching only online classes, will need to fully follow the protocols.

Clarifications on this new system will be shared by LACCD with all students and employees via their district-assigned email.

Masks continue to be required indoors at all LACCD college facilities.
