Dream Center Offers Resources Following Trump Administration DACA Decision

The Trump administration announced this week in a memo that it will continue to reject initial Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) applications from immigrants who never obtained protection from deportation and also limit the renewals for more than 640,000 "Dreamers" enrolled in the program.

The changes, in total, included:

  1. The memo requires U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to reject all first-time DACA applications. 
  2. Reject applications for advance parole from DACA recipients unless they are for exceptional circumstances.
  3. To continue processing DACA renewal applications, but to grant renewed DACA and work authorization for only one year rather than two years.
