Undocumented Student Success Week
Los Angeles Southwest College's Dream Resource Center is hosting events for "Undocumented Student Success Week" (USSW) on Oct. 13th-17th. During this week of action, we are highlighting our commitment to undocumented students, uniting allies, and creating a strong network of support, resources, and community. Join us in fostering a welcoming environment for our undocumented student community.
This year’s theme is "Together in Purpose, Grounded in Belonging." Events include:
- October 13 - Undocu-Advocate Tabling
- October 14 - Loteria Game from 11 AM-Noon
- October 15 - Student Legal Consultations from 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM
- October 16 - Immigration Updates Presentation from 11 AM-Noon
Undocumented students are an integral part of our community, and we believe they are entitled to every opportunity to succeed. Community colleges play a pivotal role in providing all students with the education and resources they need to thrive. However, we recognize that many undocumented students continue to face significant barriers to employment and financial stability due to their immigration status.
This year's USSW theme lcalls on institutions, educators, and policy leaders to take bold, equity-driven steps in designing systems that affirm students’ identities, empower their educational and career journeys, and uplift entire communities. These events are in collaboration with the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA), the Hispanic Heritage Month Committee and part of the celebration of the Hispanic Heritage Month.
